Entering the Preschool I classroom is exciting each and everyday! We
follow a theme based curriculum, where children are participating in
activities that foster their spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, and
social development, along with meeting the needs of the whole child.
In the Preschool I classroom, children participate in circle time, large group
activities, small group activities (called discovery zones), and child initiated
play. We maintain a regular balance throughout our curriculum in a variety
of ways. Our discovery zones consist of the following types of activities:
- Sensory/Science: Children explore with their senses, participate in
the measuring of food during cooking projects, and explore the
wonders of a variety of sensory materials.
- Art: Preschoolers explore a wide variety of materials, as they create
their own masterpieces.
- Large Motor: Children build their large muscle abilities through yoga,
balancing, running, throwing, catching, and much more.
- Math: Children strengthen their ability to count, problem-solve, build,
create, and discover through a variety of experiences. We also
focus on our monthly colors and shapes.
- Social Studies: Children are focusing on their social and emotional
development as they discover and explore their world, along with
other cultures. They do this through dramatic play, music, puzzles,
field trips, and more.
- Literacy: Children develop and strengthen their language through
stories, vocabulary, writing, and more.
The children will be able to pro actively participate in a well-rounded, theme
based curriculum. We have many daily activities planned for the children
that will include learning not only colors, shapes, numbers, and letters; but
also include how to be a good friend, respect for others, and learning and
using our manners. We look forward to helping your child gain the best
experience possible as they take this wonderful leap in the growing years.
