Preschool II
Entering the Preschool II classroom is surely an exciting adventure!  We
follow a theme based curriculum, where children are participating in
activities that foster their spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical, and
social development, along with meeting the needs of the whole child.

In the Preschool II classroom, children will be able to participate in circle
time, large group activities, small group activities (learning centers), and
child initiated play.  We maintain a regular balance throughout our
curriculum in a variety of ways.  Our centers cover the curriculum in the
following areas:
  • Sensory/Science: Children explore with their senses, participate in
the measuring of food during cooking projects, and explore the
wonders of a variety of sensory materials.
  • Art: Preschoolers explore a wide variety of materials, as they create
their own masterpieces. We maintain a well balance of teacher-
guided art, as well as child initiated art.
  • Large Motor: Children build their large muscle abilities through yoga,
balancing, running, throwing, catching, and much more.
  • Math: Children strengthen their ability to count, problem-solve, build,
create, and discover through a variety of experiences.  We also
focus on our monthly colors and shapes.
  • Social Studies: Children are focusing on their social and emotional
development as they discover and explore their world, along with
other cultures.  They do this through dramatic play, music, puzzles,
    field trips, and more.
  • Language: Children develop and strengthen their language through
stories, vocabulary, the letter of the week, and many more theme-
    based activities.
  • Writing: Each child will first work on writing their own name. The child
will do this by using a variety of different techniques and materials.
We will also focus on a letter and number each week.

Throughout these different areas of learning, the needs of the whole child
are met.  Each child will also receive one - on - one attention to work
towards their individualized goals, which are established by the parents and
teachers during conference time.  Children are encouraged to dive right in
to our hands-on activities, where they can explore and discover for
themselves new ideas and concepts.
